About the Conseil
The introduction of the Québec Parental Insurance Plan on January 1, 2006 marks an important step in the development of Québec family policies. The Plan is intended to meet the challenges arising from economic trends, demographics and family realities. It strengthens the support offered to new parents, helping them balance family concerns and professional obligations. By crafting the Plan, Québec has created a important tool that combines social development and economic development.
The Québec government has entrusted the management of the Plan to the Conseil de gestion de l’assurance parentale.
